Generation Next – Internet Native or Internet Naive

Man is a social animal – who knew an entire industry would ride on this someday? On the other hand, it has never been less true. Look around in your office or your own household or go outdoors or to a social gathering. You will see people staring into their screens – avoiding eye-to-eye contact and interaction. If you think this behavior is limited to adults – go into the living room of a household that has a child or into school classrooms. You will see children as young as 2 years old connected to the web.

Studies show that children (as young as 5 years) spend on an average 6 hours online everyday. They connect through various Internet connected devices

Today’s Slogan - #SafetyBeginsWithMe

I believe that everything in my world begins with me and comes back to me as a reciprocation of my actions and reactions. After all, my world is what I make it. Even our religion says the same thing that ‘Karmo ka phal yahin bhogna padta hai’. Hence, this sloka has further strengthen my belief that I should be careful in doing everything as #SafetyBeginsWithMe and I am responsible for it.

Recently my friend met with an accident on highway. He was driving his Avenger late night and his bike collided with a bus, which was vacant and parked there for repair purpose. The accident was horrible as my friend suffered 10 fractures and several internal injuries. I just wish if he would have control on his speeding bike, he would have seen the bus from a distance and the accident could have been escaped. Nevertheless, this accident is the turning point of my life and I, all the more believe in #SafetyBeginsWithMe.

Nissan in association with Top Gear Magazine is running a campaign #SafetyBeginsWithMe and I am supporting this on social channels by suggesting my friends and acquaintances to drive safe. #BeProud to be slow in reaching heaven.

BeProud to join ‘Causes’

Social Cause is something that everyone talks about but someone has to initiate it as well. One does not have to abandon all his/her work to be a social worker. I just think that in everyday’s life we need to incorporate few things as a habit that can help society to be a better place for living. Like spitting & throwing garbage on roads, wasting water and natural resources, wasting electricity, talking on mobile phones while driving, breaking traffic rules and most importantly rash driving should be avoided at any point of time. This will atleast give a better and disciplined look to city and nation at large.

Nissan in association with Top Gear Magazine is running a Road Safety campaign on Social Channels like Facebook and Twitter. I am supporting this campaign as it is spreading awareness about safety measures. Be a part of this campaign by participating in it and #BeProud to join the cause which can save many lives.

BeProud to be Responsible

Being a responsible human being is a matter of pride. With the increasing awareness, this internet savvy generation is now more responsible towards nature, society and nation. Today, youngsters takes pride in working for a cause and they like talking about it on social networking sites which in turn impresses and influences lot of people directly and indirectly.

Nissan in association with Top Gear Magazine has come up with an amazing Facebook Application where people can share their feeling of pride and suggestions with hashtag #BeProud and #SafetyBeginsWithMe. This initiative is for road safety and I personally support this as I lost my younger brother in an accident. ‘Rush’ for saving few minutes can take life, so I would just say #BeProud to drive slow and save many lives walking on road.

The Writer’s Bug Fest- A Literary Pleasure

Being a teacher it is always a mission to incline children towards books and literary world especially when technology is moving so fast. It was last year when we had taken junior and middle school for The Writer’s Bug Fest, which was amazing and uniquely conceptualized in order to retain the fluttering young minds. Even we teachers had great time as books and literary treasure always allows escaping from reality. Since the response was great not only from the children but also from their parents, the school has decided to take kids for this year fest too. It is a complete literary bliss besides lots of fun and entertainment for both children and adults. We have been registered for two days event on 7th and 8th December already. The Literary Fest

My teenage daughter is super excited for the upcoming Writer’s Bug Fest in Mumbai on 7th and 8th December. She is persistent on taking her sibling along as she feels the two-day event will not only polish the creative mind but will also enhance her writing and ideating skills. She told me many big names like Revathi Suresh author of Jobless, Clueless, Reckless, Kavita Singh Kale, Vinitha Ramchandani and many other will be holding interactive sessions and activities. Listening to her details, I have both my kids registered for the Fest as I feel it is an opportunity to enhance the talent and allowing children to beget some creativity and imagination from stalwarts of literary world. So if you too want your children to have some literary adventure, get them registered as soon as possible.

Life is to be Lived

Life is a roller coaster ride with its ups and downs. When life gives us high in form of achievements
and success nothing like that but when failure is met, life loses its meaning and value for many of us.However, a true hero is one who rises from his failure like a phoenix from its ashes. And for me my Phoenix is my aunt who despite of losing her walking power to an accident never gave up on life. There will be many like her amongst us and they are the genuine unsung heroes.

My aunt runs a software company single handily and despite of early roadblocks she never fumbled and
gave up on her dreams and aspiration. Today I want her story to be known by everyone and so I have
shared her struggle and success at TEDxGateway. So if you know someone who has overcome his or
her struggle and failure then share the story. Let the story be the source of inspiration for many who have forgotten to dream.
